Controlling the Narrative
November 16, 2021 - November 17, 2021
9:00 am - 10:30 am
Every PR practitioner knows that few skills are as important in this profession as knowing how to tell your client’s story. Week in and week out, we use our own platforms to shape the narrative and build reputation. But what happens when your carefully crafted pitch succeeds in attracting a reporter’s attention – or, when a negative story makes headlines? A reporter’s mission is different. So, when a reporter is doing the writing and research, how can we work alongside to earn a successful outcome? How do effective PR professionals interact with news agencies? What should we understand about journalists – their mindset, the pressures they face, their ethics?
This panel includes professionals with experience on both sides of the aisle – public relations and news – who will provide guidance about how to control the narrative when our control is limited.
Panelists Include:
Kathleen Cairns, Communications Strategist, Fallston Group
Jessica Fast, Vice President, Abel Communications
Andrea Lynn, Director of Public Relations, TBC
