Hyperlocal News Panel
March 17, 2020
8:30 am - 10:30 am
This event has been postponed.
Hyperlocal news products have long been a valuable resource for PR practitioners – a tool for reaching target audiences and getting our messages heard. But the rise of online journalism has hit local news harder than any other aspect of the news industry; more than 1,300 communities in the U.S. have lost local news coverage entirely. How do these changes affect information practitioners? What is the impact to the Baltimore PR community? How much does the loss of local news matter to PR professionals? Join us for a discussion on what the seismic changes to local news mean for you, and to hear from several journalists who are still actively engaged in telling hyperlocal news.
Confirmed panelists:
- Susan Ingram, Freelancer, Formerly at Community Times and Jewish Times
- Elizabeth Janney, Editor, Patch.com
- Timothy W. Maier, Publisher/Executive Editor, Maryland Reporter and Baltimore Post-Examiner
- Simone Ellin, Associate Editor, Jmore Baltimore Jewish Living
