Job Title: Social Media Intern – Integrative Health and Wellness Online Graduate Certificate Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore
Location: Remote
Duration: 15 weeks (this can be modified if your semester is shorter than 15 weeks)
Hours: Flexible (minimum of 5 hours per week and maximum of 10 hours a week, with a maximum of a total of 150 hours in the semester)
Compensation: $17/hour undergraduate; $19/hour graduate

About Us: The Integrative Health and Wellness Online Graduate Certificate Program at the University of Maryland, Baltimore is dedicated to providing comprehensive education and training in the field of holistic health and wellness. We are committed to teaching health care professionals and individuals how to empower their patients and themselves to lead healthier, more balanced lives through evidence-based practices and innovative approaches. As we continue to expand our program, we are seeking a dynamic and creative Social Media Intern to join our team and assist our social media and communication efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic social media and communication plan to effectively promote the Integrative Health and Wellness Online Graduate Certificate Program to new audiences.
  • Create engaging content for various social media platforms including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
  • Monitor social media channels, respond to comments, and engage with followers to foster a sense of community and connection.
  • Utilize analytics tools to track and measure the success of social media campaigns and make data-driven recommendations for improvement.
  • Collaborate with marketing and admissions teams to align social media efforts with overall recruitment and enrollment goals.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in social media marketing and incorporate innovative strategies to increase program awareness and recruitment.
  • Explore and implement creative ways to expand our social media following and reach a broader audience.
  • Assist in the creation of marketing materials such as blog posts, newsletters, and email campaigns as needed.
  • Report to Director of the Program, Dr. Michelle Pearce and meet weekly to discuss efforts and progress
  • Work with our Communication and Marketing team at UMB

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Passion for health and wellness with a basic understanding of integrative health practices preferred.
  • Experience managing social media accounts for personal or professional purposes.
  • Familiarity with social media management tools and analytics platforms.
  • Creative thinker with the ability to generate innovative ideas and content.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines.
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

The aim is to give the intern a balanced experience in communication-related projects, processes, and tasks. The types of work vary, including research, promotion, marketing, PR, advertising, journalism, social media management, video production, digital design, etc.
